You might think that terrorists have hit the White House. And according to millions and millions of us, you wouldn’t be wrong. I know that building demolitions look like bombings when they’re in progress, but the symbolism is still spot on.
Less than three months after vowing to leave the White House untouched during the construction of his ste later, the building resembles the Pentagon after 9/11:
“It won’t interfere with the current building … It’ll be near it, but not touching it and pays total respect to the existing building, which I’m the biggest fan of. It’s my favorite” Trump said according to ABC News.

Trump originally stated that the construction of his “ballroom” would touch White House at all, then somewhat comedically, the plans suddenly evolved to include the planned destruction of the entire East Wing. The serial liar who couldn’t keep his wedding vows to his wife pulled another fast one on, well, everyone.

Mind you, this is occurring days after seven million people rose up to protest him and his policies. Meanwhile, as Trump’s ego-stroking construction gets underway, many peoples lives are in the lurch due to his unwillingness to make compromises with his budget despite not having the votes to get it passed.
Peoples lives are in the lurch:
- ICE Agents still roam the streets unimpeded by law or decency in their search for undocumented people. Despite earlier vows to only target the “criminals”, one of their favored tactics has been to stake out Immigration Courthouses to capture
victimsimmigrants who are following the law.
- Five million people could lose their health insurance as a result of Trumps 2026 Federal Budget, on top of the estimated 9 to 14 million people who stand to lose their a range of healthcare benefits as a result of his Big
BeautifulBill.
- The lives and stability of hundreds of thousands of people who can subsist thanks to Social Security and its Disability Insurance have suddenly been thrown into uncertainty due rumors that Trump will suddenly change eligibility criteria for the express purpose of throwing people out of the system.
- It is becoming more and more likely that SNAPs food assistance program will run out of funds in the coming weeks. The program serves around 14 million people, many of whom will need to turn to food pantries and other local services precisely when an influx of demand is expected due to workers affected by the government shutdown.
- Ironically, farmers who needed government bailouts out midway through Trumps first term due because of his trade war STILL showed up overwhelmingly to vote for him again. Those same farmers have now seen foreign demand for their harvest evaporate to almost nothing because of the renewed trade war. Even before that, many farmers were raising alarms about being unable to harvest their fields due to ICE’s immigration crackdown. What’s the saying? Fool me once…?
- This leaves us in the situation of yanking food assistance from millions of Americans at the very same time that farmers are being forced to destroy their crops because they can’t sell them.
All this in the within the first year of Trump re-claiming his throne.
And what’s the President focused on amidst all of this?
His stupid ballroom.
I was going to AI an image of King Trump, but ChatGPT wouldn’t let me, so instead I leave you with this:
