The Right Once Sought To Normalize Violence, Is Now Against It?

Someone finally said something that made far-right figure Nick Fuentes declare, “enough is enough.” Well… not really. Fuentes, a proud anti-Semite and Adolf Hitler admirer, seemed shocked that BBC hosts might not share his enthusiasm for Hitler—or anyone who praises him.

Lord Daniel Finkelstein: So one final thing I would say, Nick Fuentes thinks that Hitler was cool but do remind him Hitler ultimately lost and had to shoot himself so Nick Fuentes should understand he thinks is on a winner but ultimately you discover isn’t.

Ash Sarkar: You’re nicer than me, I’d say follow your leader

Seeing that snippet, Fuentes took Twitter: “Why is this rhetoric allowed on television? This type of violent rhetoric is totally unacceptable, especially in this political climate.”

This is the same Nick Fuentes (I genuinely feel sorry for anyone who shares that name) who, on his broadcast, claimed his followers take an oath to “kill, rape, and die for Nick Fuentes.” Let’s be clear: someone who even jokes about that to 550,000 Rumble followers—let alone 1.2 million on Twitter—should not be the moral authority on violent rhetoric.

This pattern repeats across MAGA land.

Trump supporters had no problem metaphorically attacking the President of the United States until a little less than a year ago—but suddenly they demand that everyone respect the office, even if they don’t like the man in it.

Take commentator Josh Dunlap, who once posted “Fuck Joe Biden” (or its milder euphemism, Let’s Go Brandon), only to flip-flop a month later, promoting the idea that the presidency deserves respect regardless of who occupies it.

Here is Dunlap showing his Christmas spirit on December 23, 2024:

Then flip-flopping on January 19th 2025, the day before Trump re-took office.

Denunciations against violence? Absolutely necessary. Political discourse should never involve threats or attacks. But if you’ve ever smiled at—or honked in support of—a pickup truck with decals depicting the former president or vice president tied up in the truck bed, you’ve already disqualified yourself from the moral high ground.

“They have to tone it down” says the crowd that once honked in support of truck decals like this.

“You must hope the President succeed because that will help our country” say people who also cheered this truck decal

Conclusion

Those who once glorified violence and death for political gain have no standing to lecture anyone about civility—Nick Fuentes and his ilk are exactly why we must call out and condemn violent rhetoric wherever it appears.
