How Did the Democrats Suddenly Become the “Far Left”?

MAGA Republicans love to label the Democrats with whichever scary buzzword of the week is trending: “far-left, Marxist, communist, socialist, or whatever their new “insult” is.

So, thanks to the wonders of modern AI (Microsoft Copilot, in this case), I can now illustrate the supposed “radical leftward shift” of the Democratic Party… while showing that Democrats haven’t actually moved at all.

Turns out the mainstream party hasn’t shifted at all. Something else happened.

The Right Transformed Itself

Mainstream Democrats have stayed roughly in the same ideological spot. The Republican Party, emboldened by the election of Donald Trump, sprinted hard to the right and now accuses the Democrats of not moving to the Right with them.

When the “center” moves but one party doesn’t, it creates the illusion that the party that didn’t change is suddenly “far-left.”
